Birthday card
with their song

Most musical ecards play the same tinny jingle for everyone. Put in the song that's actually theirs, straight from Spotify or YouTube, with a line about why. Or skip the song and record yourself singing. Either way, it plays inside a card they unwrap.

Common questions

Can I add a song to a birthday ecard?

Yes. Copy the link to any song on Spotify or YouTube, paste it into the card, and the player is embedded on its own surprise page. Add a dedication, like 'Track 3 of every road trip we ever took', and it shows with the song.

Does the song play the whole way through?

YouTube songs play in full. Spotify plays the full track if the person is signed in to Spotify in that browser, and a 30-second preview if they aren't, which is Spotify's rule for embedded players. If the full song matters, use the YouTube link.

Can I sing Happy Birthday in the card?

Yes, and you should. Record a voice note right in the browser, up to two minutes. Singing badly on purpose counts. Your actual voice saying their name beats any stock birthday jingle, and it works on a long-distance birthday the way a phone call doesn't when time zones get in the way.

Which songs work?

Any single song on Spotify (open.spotify.com/track/… links) or any YouTube video, so that's covers, live versions, a video of your band, or the song from your first dance. Playlists and albums aren't supported; pick the one song.

Is a birthday card with music free?

The song and the voice note are part of Birthday Boost, a one-time upgrade for that card that also unlocks the money gift, the cake and premium effects. A free card can still carry a gift link, like a Spotify playlist you made for them, which opens from inside the card.

Does music autoplay when they open it?

No. Browsers block autoplaying sound, and nobody wants a card blaring in a meeting. The song sits on its own page in the card with a play button, so they hear it when they get there.

What song should I pick for a birthday card?

Skip the generic birthday songs. Pick the one that's yours: the song from the trip, the one they sing badly in the car, the first concert you went to together, or something that came out the year they were born. Then use the dedication to say why.
